Electrodynamics and the electron equation of motion

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 267-273
The extent to which Lorentz-Dirac equations of motion for the electron follow from Maxwell's equations is shown. The standard derivations depend on cutoff procedures and other prescriptions. The conclusion is that the Lorentz force is cutoff-independent but radiation-reaction forces are not. (AIP)
