CONCEPTUAL STUDIES OF A 1000-MWe NUCLEAR POWER STATION WITH A STEAM-COOLED, FAST BREEDER REACTOR; Konzeptstudie eines 100 MWe-Kernkraftwerkes mit einem damfgekuehlten, schnellen Brutreaktor (in German)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4005477
Referring to the Reference Design of a 1000 MW(e) Steam Cooled Fast Breeder Reactor D 1 (KFK-392, Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe) the factors determining the design and layout of a large steam cooled fast breeder reactor are given. The methods are discussed in detail, which allow reliable after heat removal and reactor flooding to perform refueling. As development of the mentioned Reference Study a reactor design is indicated allowing easy inspection of the pressure vessel and simple dismantling of all internals. The safety features of the plant are also improved by modification to the refueling pool and the main steam lines. As a result the water content of this pool can be used for rapid flooding of the reactor cavity in case of a serious accident. (auth)
