S>A tubular ultracentrifuge is described. The height is more than three times its diameter. It rotates and oscillates like a top. For that purpose the centrifuge is provided with a bottom pivot which rests on a flexibly mounted support. The centrifuge is held in its vertical position by means of an axial magnetic field generated between a first amular magnetic body which is fixed at the top of the centrifuge and a second annular magnetic bcdy which is flexibly mounted on the housing of the centrifuge. The centrifuge is brought into rotation by means of an electromagnetic motor, the rotor of which is fixed on the pivot. The centri fuge is provided at its top with axially mounted coaxial ini and outlet tubes, while discharge openings for the heavy component are provided near the bottom. (NPO)
