PROPERTIES OF LITHIUM HYDRIDE-III. PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE OF COLOR CENTERS

Journal Article · · Phys. and Chem. Solids
Concentrations of F-centers in excess of 10/sup 17//cm/sup 3/ were produced in single crystals of LiH by neutron irradiation at 78 deg K. The electron spin resonance absorption of the F-centers was observed at g = 2.004 plus or minus 0.001. The sataration parameter of the ESR absorption (T/sub 1/T/ sub 2/)/sup 1/2/ is close to that for F-centers in KCl. From rms line width measurements on LiH crystals of various isotopic compositions (Li/sup 7/H, Li/sup 7/D, Li/sup 6/H and Li/sup 6/D), spin densities of the F-center electron at the Li/sup +/ and H/sup -/ sites were estimated.
