The effect of Prandtl number on the heat transfer characteristics of a bayonet tube is studied numerically using air (Pr = 0.7), water (Pr = 2.61) and ethylene glycol (Pr = 40.36). Reynolds number is varied over the laminar and transitional range 350 < Re < 2,625. Behavior is explained using previous hydraulic and thermal studies. The effect is successfully described by an empirical correlation.
