Color-singlet {psi}{sub {ital Q}} production at {ital e}{sup +}{ital e}{sup {minus}} colliders

We calculate in closed form the complete {ital O}({alpha}{sup 2}{sub {ital s}}) color-singlet differential cross section for {ital e}{sup +}{ital e}{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}{gamma}{sup {asterisk}}{r_arrow}{psi}{sub {ital Q}}+{ital X} scattering. The cross section reduces at high energies to a heavy quark fragmentation form. We find that the energy scale at which the approximate fragmentation result becomes reliable exceeds the {psi}{sub {ital Q}} mass by more than an order of magnitude. We also discuss the color-singlet model{close_quote}s predictions for direct {ital J}/{psi} angular and energy distributions at CLEO. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
