Because of suprathermal fusion reaction and rapid pellet expansion, the highly energetic neutrons ({ital E}{sub {ital n}}{gt}14 MeV) can be emitted from DT pellet. On the basis of coupled transport/hydrodynamic calculation, the suprathermal fusion reaction is examined and the energy spectrum of neutrons bursting from DT pellet is calculated. The pellet {rho}{ital R} diagnosis by the detection of suprathermal fusion neutrons and the method for detecting these neutrons are discussed. {copyright} {ital 1996 American Institute of Physics.}
