Interference effect to the structure profile of doubly excited rosonance in photoionization of two-electron and divalent atoms
The doubly excited resonance structures in photoionization of two-electron and divalent atoms are examined in detail following a B-spline-based configuration interaction (BSCI) calculation. The individual contribution from each transition involving either a bound or a continuum component of the initial- and final-state wave functions is estimated quantitatively. The strong variation of the resonance profiles across the dominant shake-up structure can be linked directly to the change from destructive to constructive interference due to the energy variation of the bound components of the state wave function of the final continuum. Explicit examples in photoionization of excited He and Mg-like ions will be presented. The change of the autoionization widths and the Fano q-parameters along the doubly excited resonance series will also be investigated.
