The technique of tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) offers many advantages such as high selectivity, sensitivity, and versatility, in measuring trace atmospheric species in both the laboratory and field. In this paper, the authors present research activities at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) employing this technique for studies of the earth`s troposphere and stratosphere.
