Measurements of the ground-state ionization energy and wavelengths for the 1{ital s}{sup 2}{sup 1}{ital S}{sub 0}{endash}1{ital snp}{sup 1}{ital P}{sub 1} ({ital n}=6{endash}12) lines of AlXII

The wavelengths of the 1{ital s}{sup 2}{sup 1}{ital S}{sub 0}{endash}1{ital snp}{sup 1}{ital P}{sub 1} ({ital n}=6{endash}12) transitions in He-like AlXII have been measured in laser-produced and {ital X} pinch plasmas. The accuracy of the present measurements (0.3{endash}0.5 mA) is a severalfold improvement over previous results. In addition, the resonance transitions from the 11{sup 1}{ital P}{sub 1} and 12{sup 1}{ital P}{sub 1} levels of He-like AlXII are observed. Finally, the Rydberg series is used to determine the ground-state ionization energy of AlXII, with a precision of 50 parts per million. This method gives {ital E}{sub ion}=2085.98{plus_minus}0.10 eV.
