High-pressure, closed-vessel microwave systems are an important waste-minimization tool for the radiochemistry laboratory. This approach offers significant improvements in the sample-preparation process for the radiochemical analyses of soil. These microwave systems dramatically reduce secondary wastes from the sample-preparation process can be decreased by factors of ten or more.
