Geographic Information Systems can open up a new dimension to integrate computer graphics and data. During the past 10 years, Geographic Information System (GIS) technology has undergone a significant evolution in capabilities. It has been used for a wide variety of spatial analysis and information management problems. Now it can serve as the glue for binding together disparate organizational information within a common framework. Graphical computer technologies which are related to GIS are discussed.
