The T{sub z} =-3/2. A 4n + 1 nuclide {sup 73}Sr has been observed by its beta-delayed proton emission. {sup 73}Sr nuclei were produced by the {sup 40}Ca ({sup 36}Ar, 3n) reaction utilizing an argon beam from the 88 Inch Cyclotron at LBL, and transported via a He-jet system onto a moving wheel between a pair of silicon-silicon detector telescopes A single proton group at 3.75 {+-} 0.05 MeV has been observed, corresponding to the decay of the T = 3/2 isobaric analog state (IAS) in {sup 73}Rb to the ground state of {sup 72}Kr. Combining the emitted proton energy with a Coulomb displacement energy calculation for the IAS in {sup 73}Rb along with the predicted mass of {sup 72}Kr, yields an improved prediction of the mass of the ground state of {sup 73}Sr. Trends in mass formulae versus experimental results for the heavy members of the T{sub z} =-3/2, A = 4n + 1 series will be discussed.
