A determination of the asymptotic D-state to S-state ratio for {sup 3}He via the {sup 63}Cu(d,{sup 3}He){sup 62}Ni and {sup 89}Y(d,{sup 3}He){sup 88}Sr reactions
- and others
Angular distributions of the tensor analyzing power (TAP) A{sub zz} have been measured for the g.s. transitions in the {sup 63}Cu(d,{sup 3}He){sup 62}Ni reaction at E{sub d} = 8 MeV and the {sup 89}Y(d,{sup 3}He){sup 88}Sr reaction at E{sub d} = 10.5 MeV. The asymptotic D-state to S-state ratio for {sub 3}He, {eta}({sup 3}He), will be extracted by comparing the TAP data with finite-range DWBA calculations. The choice of targets for the (d,{sup 3}He) reaction was determined by a consideration of the spectroscopic factors for proton pickup and the unique j transfers involved. The DWBA calculations show some sensitivity to optical model parameters in the entrance channel as the incident deuterons are above the Coulomb barrier. The present results for {sup 71}({sup 3}He) will be compared with previous results that we obtained from the {sup 93}Nb(d,{sup 3}He){sup 92}Zr reaction at E{sub d} = 12 MeV, which include an analysis of the elastic scattering data, as well as other recent determinations and theoretical predictions.
