Lifetimes were measured in two superdeformed bands in {sup 194}Hg using the Doppler-shift attenuation method. These measurements represent the first lifetime information to be extracted for an excited superdeformed band. The experiment was performed with the Early Implementation phase of the GAMMASPHERE array, consisting of 25 Compton-suppressed germanium detectors. The quadrupole moments of the excited and yrast superdeformed bands are found to be the same to within 5%.
