Spectroscopy of {sup 186}Pb with mass identification

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the American Physical Society
OSTI ID:387045

Transitions in the very neutron-deficient isotope 186Pb have been identified in mass-gated, recoil-{gamma} and recoil-{gamma}-{gamma} coincidence data obtained with the Argonne Fragment Mass Analyzer and the Argonne-Notre Dame BGO {gamma}-ray facility. The {sup 186}Pb was produced by the {sup 154}Gd({sup 36}Ar,4n) reaction with the 174-MeV {sup 36}Ar beam being provided by the ATLAS accelerator. A cascade of six and possibly seven transitions has been assigned to {sup 186}Pb by definitive mass identification. These results confirm and extend a level scheme tentatively proposed in earlier work elsewhere.
