Discrete ambiguities in extracting weak phases from {ital B} decays

Phases of elements of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix, as obtained using decays of {ital B} mesons to {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}}, {pi}{sup {plus_minus}}{ital K}{sup {minus_plus}}, and {pi}{sup +}{ital K}{sup 0} or {pi}{sup {minus}}{ital {bar K}}{sup 0}, are shown to have a class of discrete ambiguities. In most cases these can be eliminated using other information on CKM phases. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
