Properties of 15--30 mol% CeO{sub 2}/23 mol% Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}/62-47 mol% SiO{sub 2} glasses prepared in air have been investigated in this study. Experimental results show that the glass transformation temperature, the dilatometric softening temperature, and the transmittance in the visible region decrease with increasing ceria content; but the thermal expansion coefficient, the bulk density, and the microhardness increase with increasing ceria content.
