Advanced stimulation technology deployment program. Annual report, February 1995-January 1996

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:381550
During the past year, the Gas Research Institute has been actively involved in deploying Advanced Stimulation Technologies (AST) to the gas industry. These technologies include applying quality control in the field, performing real-time, real-data analysis of fracture treatment data using 3D models, and understanding and applying critical fracturing concepts like tortuosity, high treating pressures due to tip effects (Dilatancy), and proppant convection. This report summarizes S.A. Holditch and Associates, Inc. (SAH) activities in support of GRI`s deployment program including developing training material and hosting workshops. Case studies from six deployment programs are outlined with total benefits in excess of 36 Bscf of gas representing an increase in profits of about $39 million. This report also summarizes the authors` proposed AST plans for 1996.
