Effect of the Sayano-Shushenskoe hydropower complex on the environment

This article reviews the environmental impacts of the Sayano-Shushenskoe hydroelectric complex in Russia. Hydrochemical and hydrobiological characteristics of both the reservoir and the Enisei River are discussed, in particular the effects of submerged/floating timber and wastewater. There has also been an effect on the climatic conditions in the area, and this is also discussed in the article.
