Partial true unification of neutral current interactions with Glashow and Weinberg-Salam branches

Recently developed formalism of polar coupling constants indicates that the partial true unification of neutral current interactions associated with gauge group SU(3){sub c} x SU(2){sub L} x G can go through two independent branches, which the author calls the Glashow and Weinberg-Salam branches. The uniqueness of the photon, vector bosons, and neutral current interactions, in general, are guaranteed with respect to these two branches only if G=U(1){sub 2} x {hor_ellipsis} x U(1){sub n}, where the indices are associated with gauge coupling constants g{sub 2},{hor_ellipsis},g{sub n} (g{sub 1} is associated with SU(2){sub L}); this follows from the fact that only for this G is there a transformation connecting coupling constants and group generators when going from the Glashow to the Weinberg-Salam branch, and vice-versa. This fact severely limits the possibilities of partial unifications at higher energy scalses. At the energy scale just beyond the standard model, G=U(1){sub 2} x U(1){sub 3}; the effects of this G on some of the leptonic processes are being pursued.
