Energy levels in {sup 85}Zr

The role of N = 45 in demarcating collective from single-particle behavior for odd-mass nuclei near Z=40 has been noted. High spin states in {sup 85}Zr, the only such N = 45 nucleus for which a high spin decay scheme has not been published, were populated relatively weakly in a GAMMASPHERE/MICROBALL experiment ({sup 32}S on {sup 58}Ni at 135 MeV). Identification of {sup 85}Zr was facilitated by charged particle coincidences observed with MICROBALL. Three-fold {gamma}-ray coincidences from GAMMASPHERE produced {gamma}-gated {gamma}arrays for discrimination against stronger channels. Levels to spin 41/2 have been observed. The structure of {sup 85}Zr will be discussed in terms of systematics.
