Inclusive muon neutrino reactions in {sup 12}C

The authors obtain cross sections for the muon neutrino reaction {nu}{sub {mu}} + {sup 12}C {yields} {mu}{sup {minus}} + X for neutrino energies from threshold to 300 MeV. The effect of the final state electromagnetic interaction is calculated and the possibility of higher l-state contributions to the cross section is examined. The excitation energy spectrum for the final state nuclei is improved. A spectrum averaged value for the cross section over the LAMPF muon-neutrino spectrum is obtained.
