A measurement of leptonic branching ratios of the tau lepton

With a total integrated luminosity of 61 pb{sup {minus}1} collected in 1991, 1992 and 1993 on the Z peak using the L3 detector at LEP, the authors have measured the electronic and nuonic decay branching ratios of the {tau} lepton. A preliminary result yields: BR{sub e} = 17.69 {+-} 0.17(stat){+-}0.08(syst)% and BR{sub {mu}} = 17.26 {+-} 0.17(stat){+-} 0.07(syst)%, respectively.
