Chloride exchange capacity of Reillex{trademark}-HPQ and HP anion exchange resin as a function of time in 2.00 M NaOH at 50{degrees}C
- East Texas State Univ., Commerce, TX (United States); and others
The use of Reillex{trademark}-HPQ anion exchange resin to partition pertechnetate from Hanford Double Shell Simulants has been reported. However, the stability of the Reillex{trademark}-HPQ in these highly caustic simulants is uncertain. Hence, a timed study of the chloride exchanged capacity of both Reillex{trademark}-HP and HPQ resins was undertaken. The results indicate that the capacity of Reillex{trademark}-HP resin does not decrease within 13 days in 2.00 M NaOH at 50{degrees}C. This is in contrast with Reillex{trademark}-HPQ which shows a 30% decrease in total capacity within 72 hours and no further decrease within 80 days in 2.00 M NaOH at 50{degrees}C. A detailed discussion of the results will be presented.
