Working together - the pulp and paper industry, government and academia
- National Renewable Energy Lab., Golden, CO (United States)
A summary of the mechanisms of interaction between industry, government laboratories, and academia will be presented. For instance, the effort supporting the Forest Products industry will be described. Much of the work proposed in Agenda 2020 is represented in the life-work of Professor Joe Gratzl. Cooperative mechanisms discussed will also include those highlighted in the National Environmental Technology Strategy released by the Office of Science and Technology Policy in April, 1995. In future years of decreasing R&D budgets for public and private sectors alike, partnerships will become a necessary way to increase the effectiveness of the R&D efforts, increase resource use efficiency, and continue to minimize the impact of our activities on the environment.
