Discretization and variational analysis for differential inclusions

Conference ·
OSTI ID:36634

We develop a constructive approach to optimal control of continuous-time systems governed by differential inclusions. This approach is based on discretization of differential inclusions and studying families of finite dimensional mathematical programming problems with special constraints. Such problems are related to nonsmooth optimization and required the usage of robust subdifferential constructions in nonsmooth analysis. We establish strong convergence results for discrete approximations with some estimations of the convergence rate. This approach allows to obtain necessary optimility conditions for both discrete-time and continuous-time systems with no convexity in the refined Euler-Lagrange form.
