Global optimization in modelling and managing environmental systems: Some applications

Global optimization has apparent relevance with respect to the modelling and control of complex environmental systems. In this talk, several existing applications will be reviewed: these are related to the generic problem classes of - calibration of engineering/environmental system models - optimal design and operation of {open_quotes}black box{close_quotes} systems.
