This document provides an overview of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Utility Communications Architecture (UCA{trademark}) and Database Access Integration Services (DAIS{trademark}) project, co-funded by Electric Power Research Institute and Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE and G). This project has been carried out as a demonstration of EPRI`s Integrated Utility Communications (IUC) architecture. In addition to a technical discussion of the work completed, this document also provides some insight into PSE and G`s experiences during the project. Included in this report are technical details of the implementation, a review of the project from a management perspective, and a business case. This report can also be used as reference for utility companies wishing to apply the UCA/DAIS concepts to gain uniform data access across various operational and financial systems within their organization.
