Role of renewables in greenhouse gas reduction. Final report
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:354854
This report estimates the role that non-hydro renewable energy sources could play in future reductions of greenhouse gas emissions. The non-hydro renewables covered are: solar, wind, biomass and geothermal. The geothermal resources addressed are hydrothermal, i.e., steam and hot water not hot dry rock. This report presents information relevant to estimating the extent to which renewable energy sources can reduce emissions of fossil fuel carbon to the atmosphere, by when, at what cost, and with what environmental consequences. It is preliminary, but based on relevant work by EPRI and others, and indicative of lines of research that can provide more definitive answers.
