Compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle infrastructure opportunity assessment. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:354853
Natural gas vehicles (NGVs) are an attractive, clear-air transportation option for both fleets and individuals. NGV fueling stations offer electric utilities an additional revenue source by providing the energy to compress or liquefy natural gas for onboard storage. The objective was to assess the market for electricity as an energy source for compression in NGV fueling station applications. The project team compared the advantages and disadvantages of electric and gas-powered compressors in NGV fueling station applications.
