Journal Article · · Hydrotechnical Construction
The Volga-Lenin hydroelectric station on the Volga River forms a reservoir with a total storage of 58 square km and a maximum head of 26 m. The operating safety of the hydraulic structures is monitored on the basis of the `Regulations for the industry safety inspection system of hydraulic structures of electric power stations.` On the basis of the procedural instructions of the Regulations and recommendations of specialized institutes, the hydraulic engineering department worked out a five year and annual plans of instrumental measurements, inspection, and visual observations of the structures. The results of the inspections detail the condition and improvements needed on the Volga-Lenin station`s hydrostation powerhouse, the earth dam, the overflow dam, the hydromechanical equipment, plunge basins, turbines, and measuring/monitoring equipment.
