The demand for green power is growing among consumers in tandem with the number and variety of green energy programs offered by power producers and marketers. Green-pricing programs are playing a key role in developing new renewable capacity and educating the public about the benefits of renewable energy, while positioning the utility as a customer-driven green power provider and giving it experience with these new technologies. Customer support for such programs is significant, and as deregulation advances, opportunities are opening for new companies eager to supply customers with electricity from green sources. ``Green Pricing: Experience and Technology Options Assessment`` presents an overview of the status of green-pricing programs in the US and the renewable technologies employed in those programs. It gives insight into the expanding market for green energy, examines the types of green-pricing programs currently conducted by utilities around the country, discusses issues and barriers associated with green power marketing, and offers conclusions and recommendations for those interested in green marketing or in creating a green-pricing program. These issues are examined in the context of a growing consumer base for renewable electricity and deregulation`s role in affecting market forces.
