The document presents an Explanation of Significant Difference (ESD) from the Record of Decision (ROD) (PB91-921542) for the Logistics Center at Fort Lewis, Washington. The selected remedy described in the ROD for the Logistics Center primarily addresses the potential risks posed by volatile organic compound (VOC) contamination in groundwater by reducing the site contamination to levels that are protective of human health and the environment. This ESD addresses enhancements to be implemented in the overall strategy for remediating the site and will become part of the Administrative Record file pursuant to Section 300.825(a)(2) of the National Oil and Hazardous Substance Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP).
