Observation of the Decay {Xi}{sup 0} {r_arrow} {Sigma}{sup +}e {sup {minus}}{ovr {nu}}{sub e}

We present the first observation of {Xi}{sup 0} beta decay, using the KTeV beam line and detector at Fermilab. We have identified 176 beta decay events after subtracting a 7 event background. Normalization to 41thinsp024 simultaneously collected {Xi}{sup 0}{r_arrow}{Lambda}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} decays yields a branching ratio of {Gamma}({Xi}{sup 0}{r_arrow}{Sigma}{sup +} e{sup {minus}}{ovr {nu}}{sub e})/{Gamma}{sub total}=(2.71{plus_minus}0.22{sub statisti cal}{plus_minus}0.31{sub systematic}) {times}10{sup {minus}4} .
