Nb-containing micro-alloyed steels have been of a great interest because of the beneficial effect of a small amount of Nb on mechanical properties. This effect is mostly associated with the formation of very fine Nb(C,N) carbonitrides in austenite and ferrite or during {gamma}/{alpha} transformation. Thus, dissolution and precipitation of Nb(C,N) in steels and their interaction with recrystallization and {gamma}/{alpha} transformation should be clearly understood. In this study, computer simulation of Nb-containing steels was carried out by adopting a classical nucleation and growth theory for precipitation and an Avrami-type equation for recrystallization. The retardation effect of precipitation on recrystallization was treated by modifying pinning force on recrystallization start time (R{sub s}). The effect of recrystallization on precipitation was also treated by the reduction of strain-induced driving force for nucleation and the reduction of available nucleation sites.
