An experiment was performed at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory of Michigan State University to study the structure of neutron-unbound {sup 10}Li importantly associated to the understanding of the structure of two-neutron halo {sup 11}Li. The analysis of {sup 9}Li-{gamma} coincidences from the single-proton stripping of {sup 11}Be demonstrates that the previously observed low decay energy virtual s-state in {sup 10}Li is a low-lying state which decays to the ground state of {sup 9}Li and therefore shows evidence for parity inversion in {sup 10}Li. {copyright} {ital 1998 American Institute of Physics.}
