The electrochemical behavior of a new solvent, N{prime}N{prime}N{prime}N{prime} tetraethylsulfamide (Ethyl){sub 2}NSO{sub 2}N(Ethyl){sub 2}, referred to as TESA, with the Lithium salt trifluoromethanesulfonate inside (LiN(SO{sub 2}CF{sub 3}){sub 2}), referred to as LiTFSI, has been investigated. Of the lithium salts the authors have studied, LiAsF{sub 6}, LiPF{sub 6}, and LiN(SO{sub 2}CF{sub 3}){sub 2}, the latter exhibits a better anodic and cathodic stability in TESA. This electrolyte system showed in electrochemical stability of 4.3 Volts Vs Li/Li{sup +} on a carbon electrode. In addition, conductivity measurements have been done for various Li salt in TESA in a temperature range of {minus}12 C to 25 C. The conductivities are compared with common non-aqueous organic solvents such as 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME), propylene carbonate (PC), and a mixture of PC and ethylene carbonate (EC). The conductivity of LiTFSI in (ethyl){sub 2}NSO{sub 2}N(Ethyl){sub 2} showed a better ion conductivity than the other Li salts in TESA at their conductivity maximum.
