Research directions for the decade: Proceedings of the 1990 summer study on high energy physics
- ed.
The purpose of the 1990 Summer Study was to examine the full spectrum of important scientific issues and opportunities in high energy particle physics in the decade of the 1990`s, including research at existing and anticipated hadron-hadron, electron-positron, and electron-proton colliders; research at fixed target facilities; the scientific potential of possible new facilities such as B factories; particle astrophysics and non-accelerator based physics; and accelerator and detector initiatives. The book is divided into the following sections: electroweak studies; strong interaction physics; physics beyond the Standard Model: new quarks, leptons, gauge bosons, and new interactions; weak decays and the physics of the CKM matrix; particle astrophysics; experiments and detectors at future very high energy hadron colliders; electron-positron colliders at the Z and beyond; Tevatron collider experiments and detectors; electron-proton collider experiments and detectors; experiments and detectors at fixed target facilities; electron-positron factories; and performance potential of hadron and electron colliders. Separate abstracts were prepared for 115 papers of this conference.
