Workshop on Space Charge Physics in High Intensity Hadron Rings. Proceedings
These proceedings represent papers presented at the Workshop on Space Charge Physics in High Intensity Hadron Rings held in Shelter Island, New York in May, 1998. The main purpose of the Workshop was to review current progress in space charge related phenomena in high intensity hadron synchrotrons and accumulator rings. The Workshop was divided into three Working Groups with specific tasks. The Beam Observations Group was concerned with beam emittance, particle losses, design of collimators in rings and reduction of halos. The Theory Group discussed emittance growth and particle losses by resonance models, and by particle{minus}core models, relationship between single particle and coherent picture of resonances in synchrotrons, and how to minimize generation of halo in synchrotrons. The Simulation Group discussed existing 6{minus}D space{minus}charge dominated tracking codes and building of new codes that everyone would agree to use. The outcome of the Workshop was 39 papers. Out of these, 26 have been abstracted for the Energy,Science and Technology database. The Workshop was sponsored by Brookhaven National Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy.(AIP)
