Because there exists a difference in density, raw coal can be separated into lower ash product and higher ash product by a gravity separator such as jig. Under the same separating conditions, if the density composition of coal is different, the organic efficiency of separation will be different, i.e the washability of coal will be different. The yield-densimetric curve of coal is similar to the curve of probability distribution function. The location characteristic values of probability distribution function can be used to illustrate the characteristics of the density composition of coal. The relationship between the location characteristic values of the coal density composition of coal including mean, mode, median, the first quartile, the third quartile and the organic efficiency of the gravity separation has been studied. A Weibull model that can be used to forecast the organic efficiency of coal preparation has been established and is described in this paper.
