A microwave FEL design with waveguide and wiggler tapering

The authors discuss a new design of a very high efficiency FEL amplifier in the microwave band, based on the waveguide and wiggler tapering technique. Up to 75% efficiency is reported, even in a relatively relaxed wiggler design.
