In November 1997 a workshop was held at Fermilab to explore the physics potential of the first muon collider, and the physics potential of the accelerator complex at the {open_quotes}front-end{close_quotes} of the collider. An extensive physics program emerged from the workshop. This paper attempts to summarize this physics program and identify the main conclusions from the workshop. {copyright} {ital 1998 American Institute of Physics.}
