The fatigue crack growth thresholds of PWA 1480 superalloy single crystal were measured in air and vacuum at room temperature for stress ratios 0.1, 0.5, and 0.7 and the {Delta}K versus K{sub max} fatigue threshold maps obtained. The results are consistent with a two threshold model and it is not necessary to invoke crack closure mechanisms to account for the behavior.
