An overview of retail wheeling of electric power includes; (a) interest spawned by success of independent generators, (b) fewer natural monopolies or economies of scale, (c) regulations require state-by-state development and (d) over half the states are considering retail wheeling in some official capacity. Power marketers are interested in; (a) limits to wholesale wheeling, (b) retail market access, (c) vast new market for suppliers and marketers, and (d) competition with electric utilities that understand the retail market. Understanding the customer`s needs and providing the products and service when they need it is discussed.
