The HGSYSTEM is a package of PC based atmospheric dispersion models. Using the HGSYSTEM modules, a wide variety of accidental release scenarios can be modeled. This paper will discuss the main developments of the package since its first release in November 1990. A new release of HGSYSTEM (version 3.0) containing the extensions discussed here, will be available in the course of 1995. A wide range of release scenarios can be dealt with using HGSYSTM, although the emphasis is on dense gas releases.
