The ECRH experiment (up to 2 MW for 0.5 s) planned on the FTU tokamak (major radius {ital R}=0.93 m; minor radius {ital a}=0.3 m; toroidal magnetic field {ital B}{sub {ital t}} up to 8 T) has now reached its realization phase. A preliminary system with only a fraction of the full power (0.5 MW for 15 ms) has already been installed and tested. The simulations here presented refer to these data. Moreover predictive computations for the global experiment are discussed. {copyright} {ital 1996 American Institute of Physics.}
