Integrated measurements of {sub 212}Pb and {sup 212}Bi in the air by rotating filters

Journal Article · · Health Physics
A method for determining time integrated concentrations of {sup 212}Pb and {sup 212}Bi in the air is proposed. It employs solid state nuclear track detectors covered with an absorber and placed around a rotating filter. Results from experiments carried out in an artificial {sup 220}Rn atmosphere have been presented. They reveal that the method works within the range of integrated concentrations for indoor measurements. The experimental error was about 7% for {sup 212}Pb and 23% for {sup 212}Bi. Possibilities for improving the accuracy have been discussed. 10 refs., 6 figs.
