Corrections to Dashen{close_quote}s theorem

The electromagnetic corrections to the masses of the pseudoscalar mesons {pi} and {ital K} are considered. We calculate in chiral perturbation theory the contributions which arise from resonances within a photon loop at order {ital O}({ital e}{sup 2}{ital m}{sub {ital q}}). Within this approach we find rather moderate deviations to Dashen{close_quote}s theorem. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
