This article describes a new classroom building at the University of Northern Iowas which useds daylighting and passive solar heating to save energy and money while teaching students and the public about energy and environmental concepts. Topics included are modeling sustainability; daylighting and controls; energy efficient envelope of insulation; mechanical systems; energy performance; energy cost savings; embodied energy and environmental impact. Project details are given.
